猛暑のガーナで凍傷・・・ frostbite in tropical country

怪我しました。凍傷です。
猛暑のガーナで、まさか凍傷になるとは・・・
信じられない！

どうすればそんな事が起こるのか。

それは、いつものように暑い日に、手洗いで洗濯をし終わったら汗だくになってしまい、
買い置きしてるアイスを食べようと冷凍庫に。

停電して、復旧して、を繰り返しているため、
停電中に発生した水分が凍って、ってのを繰り返し、
アイスが冷凍庫にくっついて取れなくなってしまっていたので、
なんとか取ろうとしてました。

うちの冷蔵庫の冷却力はとても強いのよね。

洗濯後に濡れた手で冷凍庫と格闘してたところ、
濡れた手が冷凍庫の内側の壁に触れた瞬間、
手と冷凍庫の間の水が一瞬にして凍ってしまい、
手がくっついちゃった・・・

どうあがいても取れなかったし、
動けなくなってしまったので、成す術無し。

幸い一人暮らしじゃなく、同居人も家にいたので助けを呼ぶ・・・

水をかけて氷を溶かして手をはがそうと試みる。

しかし、水をかけた瞬間、さらに広範囲に渡って冷凍庫に張り付いてしまった。

そりゃそうだよね。
もう全員でパニック。

次に冷蔵庫のコンセントを抜いて、
ぬるま湯をかけてみる。

はがれた！

しかし、色がおかしい＆感覚がなーい！

凍傷です。

ネット情報や看護士隊員からの指示に従い応急処置を施しました。

ひどい部分は縦５cm×横３cm×高さ１.5cmの水疱ができ、
比較的軽い部分は痣のような感じ。

日曜の朝に怪我して、6日が経過するも、
まだまだ良くなる兆しなし。

そして当たり前だけど、
なんでこの国で凍傷なんだと、皆様に驚かれる。

I got a injury. It's a frostbite.
I'm suffering from frostbite in tropical country Ghana.
I can't believe it!


It was a hot day as usual, after finishing washing by hands, I sweated a lot and
I went to get some ice cream from a freezer.

In Ghana as light-out happens frequently,
water are generated during light-out and
the water freeze after light comes.
And my ice-cream got stuck to the freezer.
So I tried to take it away from the freezer.
When I touched the edge of the freezer with wet hand,
water between hand and the freezer froze immediately,
and my hand got stuck to the freezer....

I called for help to housemates,
as I couldn't move from the freezer and there was nothing I could do.

We tried to take my hand off by poring water.

But, water frozen again and
my hand got stuck to the freezer wider and stronger.
I know it was natural to freeze again,
but we all panicked at that time...

So we poured warm water,
and I took my hand from the freezer!

But, something was wrong with my hand,
my hand became strange color and numb.

It was a frostbite.

I did first aid based on nurse volunteer's advice and online information.

There is a big blister on worse frostbite (5cm×３cm×１.5cm)
and there are something like bruise on mild frostbite.

It happened on Sunday morning and six days have passed,
but it haven't got better.

It's a matter of course that
everyone is surprised when I tell them I got frostbite.

Please pay attention when you use a freezer.

体調こわしました I got sick.

ガーナ来て約１ヶ月半経ち、
衛生状況と暑さと気疲れとが重なり、
体調を壊してました。

１０日くらい体調を壊し続け、
後半５日は家からほとんど出ずに安静にして、
今はちょっと回復。

ＯＲＳ(経口補水塩：oral rehydration salt)という
ポカリのような粉を飲んでよくなりました。
ポカリよりまずく、
ポカリより点滴の成分に近い、
ポカリより効く、
そんな薬です。

この薬が普及してから、
ガーナの死亡率が下がったと言われているすごい薬。
まずいけど、本当に良くなったのでびっくり。

気をつけます！

One month and a half has passed since I came to Ghana,
I got sick because of sanitation, hotness and mental fatigue.
I had been sick for 10 days and I had been in bed last 5days without going out of my house.

I'm getting better now because I took ORS(oral rehydration salt), like "pocari sewat".
ORS tastes worse than pocari.
ORS's components are more similar to drip infusion than pocari.
ORS works for a cold better than pocari.

It is said that the mortality rate was reduced in Ghana after spreading ORS.
It didn't taste good, but surprisingly I recovered from sick.

I'll take care of myself!!

我が家 my house

ワに来て１週間が経ちました
1 week has passed since I came to Wa.

まだ仕事が本格的には始まっておらず
職場に行って同僚達と話したり
街中を自転車で散策してみたり
家の掃除をしてみたり
毎日自炊してみたり
（お恥ずかしながら始めての経験です・・・）
そんな感じの毎日を送ってます
I haven't started working in earnest,
I go to my office to talk with my co-workers,
I go around city by bicycle.
I clean my house.
I cook my own meals everyday.
(I'm ashame to say, it's first time experience for me.....)
I live everyday like that.


私の住む家は町の中心から自転車で１５分程の住宅地にあります
My house is located in a residential area where is 15 minutes from center of the city by bicycle.

台所には同居人たちの持ち物や
かつて住んでいた人たちが残した調味料がたくさん
日本のしょうゆ、わさび、酢、みりん、みそ、かつおぶし
なんかもあります

There are many seasonings of housemate's or people's who lived in the house before.
There are Japanese soy sause, wasabi, vineger, mirin, miso, katuobushi.







電気も通ってます
Electricity is installed.




水道はないけど給水車が来てタンクに水を入れてくれます
My house doesn't have running water.
But a water truck comes to supply water.

停電も多いし、
クーラーはないし、ドライヤーはないし、
洗濯機ないし、掃除機ないし、
虫はいるし、トカゲもいるし、
ねずみもいるらしいし（幸いまだお会いしてません）

でも、思ってたより遥かに快適に生活してます

Blackout happens frequently.
There are no air conditionar, no hair dryer,
no washing machine and no vacuum-cleaner.
There are insects, lizards and mice.
(Fortunately, I've never met mice yet.)

But, I live more comfortable life than I expected.
